Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 219
البقرة · The Cow · verse 219 of 286
يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْخَمْرِ وَالْمَيْسِرِ قُلْ فِيهِمَا إِثْمٌ كَبِيرٌ وَمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَإِثْمُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْ نَفْعِهِمَا وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنْفِقُونَ قُلِ الْعَفْوَ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمُ الْآيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
Yasaloonaka AAani alkhamri waalmaysiri qul feehima ithmun kabeerun wamanafiAAu lilnnasi waithmuhuma akbaru min nafAAihima wayasaloonaka matha yunfiqoona quli alAAafwa kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati laAAallakum tatafakkaroona

Hilali & KhanThey ask you (O Muhammad) concerning alcoholic drink and gambling. Say: "In them is a great sin, and (some) benefits for men, but the sin of them is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they ought to spend. Say: "That which is (spare) beyond your needs." Thus Allah makes clear to you His Laws in order that you may give thought.

Ahsan ul Bayan (Junagarhi)لوگ آپ سے شراب اور جوئے کا مسئلہ پوچھتے ہیں، آپ کہہ دیجیئے ان دونوں میں بہت بڑا گناه ہے اور لوگوں کو اس سے دنیاوی فائده بھی ہوتا ہے، لیکن ان کا گناه ان کے نفع سے بہت زیاده ہے۔ آپ سے یہ بھی دریافت کرتے ہیں کہ کیا کچھ خرچ کریں؟ تو آپ کہہ دیجیئے حاجت سے زائد چیز، اللہ تعالیٰ اسی طرح اپنے احکام صاف صاف تمہارے لئے بیان فرما رہا ہے، تاکہ تم سوچ سمجھ سکو،
