النساء · The Women · verse 77 of 176
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ قِيلَ لَهُمْ كُفُّوا أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِنْهُمْ يَخْشَوْنَ النَّاسَ كَخَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ أَوْ أَشَدَّ خَشْيَةً وَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا لِمَ كَتَبْتَ عَلَيْنَا الْقِتَالَ لَوْلَا أَخَّرْتَنَا إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ قُلْ مَتَاعُ الدُّنْيَا قَلِيلٌ وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِمَنِ اتَّقَىٰ وَلَا تُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا
Alam tara ila allatheena qeela lahum kuffoo aydiyakum waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata falamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu itha fareequn minhum yakhshawna alnnasa kakhashyati Allahi aw ashadda khashyatan waqaloo rabbana lima katabta AAalayna alqitala lawla akhkhartana ila ajalin qareebin qul mataAAu alddunya qaleelun waalakhiratu khayrun limani ittaqa wala tuthlamoona fateelan

Hilali & KhanHave you not seen those who were told to hold back their hands (from fighting) and perform Salah and give Zakah, but when the fighting was ordained for them, behold! a section of them fear men as they fear Allah or even more. They say: "Our Lord! Why have You ordained for us fighting Would that You granted us respite for a short period" Say: "Short is the enjoyment of this world. The Hereafter is (far) better for him who fears Allah, and you shall not be dealt with unjustly even equal to the Fatil.

Ahsan ul Bayan (Junagarhi)کیا تم نے انہیں نہیں دیکھا جنہیں حکم کیا گیا تھا کہ اپنے ہاتھوں کو روکے رکھو اور نمازیں پڑھتے رہو اور زکوٰة ادا کرتے رہو۔ پھر جب انہیں جہاد کا حکم دیا گیا تو اسی وقت ان کی ایک جماعت لوگوں سے اس قدر ڈرنے لگی جیسے اللہ تعالیٰ کا ڈر ہو، بلکہ اس سے بھی زیاده، اور کہنے لگے اے ہمارے رب! تو نے ہم پر جہاد کیوں فرض کر دیا؟ کیوں ہمیں تھوڑی سی زندگی اور نہ جینے دی؟ آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ دنیا کی سودمندی تو بہت ہی کم ہے اور پرہیزگاروں کے لئے تو آخرت ہی بہتر ہے اور تم پر ایک دھاگے کے برابر بھی ستم روا نہ رکھا جائے گا
