Surah Al-A'raf, Ayah 176
الأعراف · The Heights · verse 176 of 206
وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا وَلَٰكِنَّهُ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ إِنْ تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَثْ ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا فَاقْصُصِ الْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
Walaw shina larafaAAnahu biha walakinnahu akhlada ila alardi waittabaAAa hawahu famathaluhu kamathali alkalbi in tahmil AAalayhi yalhath aw tatrukhu yalhath thalika mathalu alqawmi allatheena kaththaboo biayatina faoqsusi alqasasa laAAallahum yatafakkaroona

Hilali & KhanAnd had We willed, We would surely have elevated him therewith, but he clung to the earth and followed his own vain desires. So his parable is the parable of a dog: if you drive him away, he pants, or if you leave him alone, he (still) pants. Such is the parable of the people who reject Our Ayat. So relate the stories, perhaps they may reflect.

Ahsan ul Bayan (Junagarhi)اور اگر ہم چاہتے تو اس کو ان آیتوں کی بدولت بلند مرتبہ کر دیتے لیکن وه تو دنیا کی طرف مائل ہوگیا اور اپنی نفسانی خواہش کی پیروی کرنے لگا سو اس کی حالت کتے کی سی ہوگئی کہ اگر تو اس پر حملہ کرے تب بھی ہانپے یا اس کو چھوڑ دے تب بھی ہانپے، یہی حالت ان لوگوں کی ہے جنہوں نے ہماری آیتوں کو جھٹلایا۔ سو آپ اس حال کو بیان کر دیجئے شاید وه لوگ کچھ سوچیں
