التوبة · The Repentance · verse 114 of 129
وَمَا كَانَ اسْتِغْفَارُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ إِلَّا عَنْ مَوْعِدَةٍ وَعَدَهَا إِيَّاهُ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ أَنَّهُ عَدُوٌّ لِلَّهِ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُ إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لَأَوَّاهٌ حَلِيمٌ
Wama kana istighfaru ibraheema liabeehi illa AAan mawAAidatin waAAadaha iyyahu falamma tabayyana lahu annahu AAaduwwun lillahi tabarraa minhu inna ibraheema laawwahun haleemun

Hilali & KhanAnd Ibrahim's invoking (of Allah) for his father's forgiveness was only because of a promise he [Ibrahim] had made to him (his father). But when it became clear to him [Ibrahim] that he (his father) is an enemy of Allah, he dissociated himself from him. Verily, Ibrahim was Awwah and forbearing.

Ahsan ul Bayan (Junagarhi)اور ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) کا اپنے باپ کے لیے دعائے مغفرت مانگنا وه صرف وعده کے سبب سے تھا جو انہوں نے اس سے وعده کرلیا تھا۔ پھر جب ان پر یہ بات ﻇاہر ہوگئی کہ وه اللہ کا دشمن ہے تو وه اس سے محض بے تعلق ہوگئے، واقعی ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) بڑے نرم دل اور برد بار تھے
