Surah Az-Zumar, Ayah 42
الزمر · The Troops · verse 42 of 75
اللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى الْأَنْفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا وَالَّتِي لَمْ تَمُتْ فِي مَنَامِهَا فَيُمْسِكُ الَّتِي قَضَىٰ عَلَيْهَا الْمَوْتَ وَيُرْسِلُ الْأُخْرَىٰ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
Allahu yatawaffa alanfusa heena mawtiha waallatee lam tamut fee manamiha fayumsiku allatee qada AAalayha almawta wayursilu alokhra ila ajalin musamman inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yatafakkaroona

Hilali & KhanIt is Allah Who takes away the souls at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep. He keeps those (souls) for which He has ordained death and sends the rest for a term appointed. Verily, in this are signs for a people who think deeply.

Ahsan ul Bayan (Junagarhi)اللہ ہی روحوں کو ان کی موت کے وقت اور جن کی موت نہیں آئی انہیں ان کی نیند کے وقت قبض کر لیتا ہے، پھر جن پر موت کا حکم لگ چکا ہے انہیں تو روک لیتا ہے اور دوسری (روحوں) کو ایک مقرر وقت تک کے لیے چھوڑ دیتا ہے۔ غور کرنے والوں کے لیے اس میں یقیناً بہت سی نشانیاں ہیں
