وَاسْأَلْهُمْ عَنِ الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ حَاضِرَةَ الْبَحْرِ إِذْ يَعْدُونَ فِي السَّبْتِ إِذْ تَأْتِيهِمْ حِيتَانُهُمْ يَوْمَ سَبْتِهِمْ شُرَّعًا وَيَوْمَ لَا يَسْبِتُونَ لَا تَأْتِيهِمْ كَذَٰلِكَ نَبْلُوهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسُقُونَ
Waisalhum AAani alqaryati allatee kanat hadirata albahri ith yaAAdoona fee alssabti ith tateehim heetanuhum yawma sabtihim shurraAAan wayawma la yasbitoona la tateehim kathalika nabloohum bima kanoo yafsuqoona

Hilali & KhanAnd ask them about the town that was by the sea; when they transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath: when their fish came to them openly on the Sabbath day, and did not come to them on the day they had no Sabbath. Thus We made a trial for them, for they used to rebel against Allah's command.

Ahsan ul Bayan (Junagarhi)اور آپ ان لوگوں سے، اس بستی والوں کا جو کہ دریائے (شور) کے قریب آباد تھے اس وقت کا حال پوچھئے! جب کہ وه ہفتہ کے بارے میں حد سے نکل رہے تھے جب کہ ان کے ہفتہ کے روز تو ان کی مچھلیاں ﻇاہر ہو ہو کر ان کے سامنے آتی تھیں، اور جب ہفتہ کا دن نہ ہوتا تو ان کے سامنے نہ آتی تھیں، ہم ان کی اس طرح پر آزمائش کرتے تھے اس سبب سے کہ وه بےحکمی کیا کرتے تھے
